This project was created during my graduate program on designing and developing AR applications. For many individuals AR/VR devices that allow users to play AR/VR video games can be too expensive with the Hololens2, a mixed reality device costing 3,500 USD. Hence, this project aims to create an AR game that is easily accessible for all users by allowing users to play with their smartphones which is a lot easier to access for users. The project was created in approximately a week and created using A-frame.
The goals of this project were to create an immersive game utilizing AR, be able to perform on an actual phone without significant lag, and have video game feautures like a reset button. Some key features are the ability to hover over minesweeper tiles, being able to reset and peak at the answers, and lastly an immersive explosion effect with sound if the wrong tile is selected. To get the full immersive experience, a video demonstration was created; if you would like to try it out on your own phone, please email me.
